Bilovit Golden Flaxseed Oil, Cold-Pressed is 100% golden flaxseed oil (a variety of common flax, Linum usitatissimum) – unrefined, cold-pressed in a Polish oil mill. Golden flaxseed oil is also known as Budwig oil – a classic culinary ingredient in Dr Budwig’s diet (cottage cheese + oil).

It differs from brown linseed oil in its lighter, golden colour and milder, more refined flavour – making it easier to incorporate into the daily diet for those who do not like the bitter taste of typical linseed oil.

Usage

Oil for cold dishes: cottage cheese with oil (a classic of the Budwig diet), salads, raw vegetable salads, cottage cheese spreads, dressings, sandwiches, grains, fish, cold sauces, dairy products. Its milder flavour makes it ideal for everyday use. Not suitable for frying or baking – heating degrades polyunsaturated fatty acids. Vegan.

Directions for use

Dr Budwig’s classic recipe: mix 2–3 tablespoons of quark with 1–2 tablespoons of oil (12–24 g) for breakfast. Other uses: 1 tablespoon (12 g) in a salad, with groats or on bread. Straight from a teaspoon – 1–3 teaspoons a day. The mild flavour makes it easy to consume in its pure form.

Storage

Before opening: 4–20°C, in the original dark bottle. After opening: in the fridge; use 500 ml of oil within a maximum of 6 weeks. Linseed oil oxidises quickly when exposed to light, heat and air – keep the bottle tightly closed. Best before date from date of pressing: ~3 months (characteristic of cold-pressing without preservatives).
