Aromatic support for the digestive system
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant native to the Mediterranean region, currently cultivated in many regions of the world, including Poland. Its small, elongated fruits (commonly referred to as seeds) have been used for centuries in both cooking and herbal medicine.
Fennel fruits are distinguished by their characteristic aniseed aroma and slightly sweet taste, which makes them not only a valuable herbal raw material, but also a popular spice. They owe their properties mainly to essential oils, the most important of which is anethole, a compound responsible for the antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the digestive tract.
Fennel – a source of valuable ingredients:
- Essential oils – mainly anethole, which has a relaxing and carminative effect, alleviating digestive discomfort.
- Flavonoids – have an antioxidant effect, protecting cells from oxidative stress.
- Organic acids - support proper digestive processes.
- Plant fiber - promotes digestive health.
- Vitamins and minerals - including vitamins C and A, potassium, and magnesium, which support overall health.
Intended use:
Fennel is traditionally used for digestive disorders such as flatulence, colic, and indigestion. It is particularly valued in cases of infant colic (after consulting a doctor) and as a support for breastfeeding mothers – it can stimulate lactation and relieve digestive discomfort in breastfed infants. In addition, thanks to its antispasmodic properties, it can bring relief from painful menstruation.
How to use:
Pour a glass (200 ml) of hot water over 1 teaspoon of fennel fruit and steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes. The infusion can be drunk 2-3 times a day, preferably after meals. For a more intense flavor and effect, the seeds can be lightly crushed before brewing. Fennel also goes well with other herbs that aid digestion, such as mint and chamomile.

100% fennel fruit
